The second objective is to enhance the filtering of sediments and nutrients form inevitable runnoff through a vegetated hedgerow. The third objective is to reduec harsh winds that can damage crops and contribute to erosion. The fourth objective is improving the quality of habitat for beneficial micro and macro- invertebrates, by removing non-native plants and increasing native plant diversity. This in turn will help to reduce the need for pesticides and herbicides. The fifth objective is for the hedgerow to help block pesticides and herbicides from the adjacent convetional crops.
