Document Description
The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CalFire) is proposing construct a short segment of new road within an existing access easement behind the Unit Headquarters facility. This road segment would be approximately 60 feet long and 25 feet wide. It will be used to provide improved bulldozer transport egress into the facility. Following grading and road construction, the area would be landscaped along a strip of land adjacent to the egress including installation of a drip irrigation system. This project is located along the southeast corner of the Madera-Mariposa-Merced Unit Headquarters, 5366 Highway 49 North, Mariposa CA 95338.

The project fits within a Class 1 and Class 4 Categorical Exemption to CEQA. A limited environmental analysis has been completed for this project to confirm that no exceptions exist at the project site which would preclude the use of a Categorical Exemption. The possible exception considered include sensitive location, cumulative impact, significant impact due to unusual circumstances, impacts to scenic highways, activities within a hazardous waste site, and significant adverse change to the significance of a historical resource (see CEQA Guidelines Section 15300.2). None of these occur. A copy of the environmental analysis is on file with the CEQA administrative record for this projected located at MMU Unit Headquarters in Mariposa.
