Document Description
The RAW specifies removal action objectives, evaluates alternatives, and described the preferred alternative proposed for cleanup of lead and organochlorine pesticide (OCP) contamination in shallow soil at the site. The objective of the RAW is to mitigate potential risk to human health and the environment by reducing or eliminating future exposure to chlordane and dieldrin (chlorinated pesticides use for terminate control) and lead (from lead-based paint) in shallow soil identified at several locations within the site. Major elements of removal action include (1) excavation of approximately 30 cubic yards of contaminated soil; (2) transportation of 2 to 3 truckloads of contaminated soil to a permitted waste facility; and (3) backfilling the excavations with clean soil; (2) transportation of 2 to 3 truckloads of contaminated soil to a permitted waste facility; and (3) backfilling the excavations with clean soil derived from on-site sources. As required by Health and Safety Code Section 25356.1. (e)(1), a 30-day public comment period for the RAW was held from July 24, 2012 through August 22, 2012. No public comment was received.
