Document Description
The proposed project involves the drilling and casing a 4,000 ft geothermal production well (ISO-2) to intersect a local fault and flow testing it into an existing production well (ISO-1). The second phase of the proposed project is converting the existing ISO-1 geothermal well to an injection well that will dispose of wastewater fluids ISO-2 well by returning those fluids to the geothermal reservoir. A 2900 ft, 4 inch underground pipeline will connect the ISO-1 and ISO-2 wells. A drilling pad will be constructed for the ISO-2 well with a drilling sump to meet regulatory standards. A successful ISO-2 well and subsequent injection of wastewaters into the ISO-1 well will mitigate environmental issues with the existing district heating system by ending geothermal discharge to the Pit River. The establishment of the ISO-2 well and conversion of the ISO-1 well to an injection well will also increase the capacity of a district heating system, allow additional casecaded uses and further the understanding of Canby's geothermal resource for continued development to evaluate the potential for use in tandem for long-term power production. The immediate purpose is to utilize the geothermal resources as an alternative energy source to provide heat to residential, commercial and public use buildings, and produce private electricity for the I'SOT community of Canby.
