Document Description
The San Diego Unified School District proposes to retrofit heating, ventilation, and air conditions (HVAC) within seven buildings on the existing Ellen Browning Scripps Elementary School campus. The existing exhaust fans, heating and ventilation units will be removed and the existing mechanical closets and ductwork will be re-used and integrated with the new highly energy efficient HVAC systems. In addition, the new HVAC systems will be integrated with the existing Energy Management Controls System (EMCS).

The proposed project is Categorically Exempt under § 15302(c) - Replacement or Reconstruction and § 15301 - New construction or Conversion of Small Structures of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines. This project is considered exempt because:
1. The proposed project will be located on the existing elementary school campus in an area where the existing facilities are located;
2. The proposed new heating, ventilation, and air conditions (HVAC) will replace substantially the same purpose and capacity;
3. The area within and surrounding the project sit is not environmentally sensitive; and,
4. It does not have the potential to trigger any of the exceptions identifies in CEQA Guidelines § 15300.2.
