The City of Chico is proposing to restore and improve the existing Teichert Pond complex. Restoration efforts will include enhancements to the hydrology of the site that will increase the control of water flows and water quality enhancements to control algal mats and invasive aquatic species, as well as elimination of litter entering Pond 2 through the installation of a trash nuisance rack at the water inlet. Existing site topography will be altered. Berms will be improved and enlarged, and Pond 2 will be converted into a treatment wetland, which will remove a portion of the nutrient load entering the site. Habitat enhancements will remove invasive, exotic vegetation and establish native vegetation. Basking structures and nesting structures will be included in project design.
