Document Description
The California Department of Transportation project replaces the bridges on Romero, San Ysidro, and Oak Creeks on State Route 101. The bridges will be widened to accommodate a high occupancy vehicle lane in both directions and the bridge span will be widened to restore future stream channel capacity. The California Department of fish and Wildlife has amended the ITP to update the project description to retain the bridge channel walls, remove the rock slope protection, reduce the proposed take amount, and reduce the mitigation requirement based on these adjustments.
The Project will result in temporary impacts to 0.26 acre of southern California steelhead (Oncorhynchus mykiss) streambed habitat. The project is expected to result in incidental take of southern California steelhead, which is/are designated as a candidate species under the California Endangered Species Act. The ITP referenced above as issued by CDFW authorizes incidental take of species listed under CESA that may occur as a result of Project implementation.
