The proposed project will add HOV lanes (to northbound and southbound) to SR-101 to eliminate an existing 10.9-mile bottleneck on SR-101 between Carpinteria and Santa Barbara. The widening is proposed to occur in the existing median and beyond the existing outside shoulders. The improvements to Highway 101 would include noise-attenuating pavement surfacing and drainage improvements
