Document Description
The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District initiated a vegetation management program to control non-native thistles at Mindego Ranch in 2009. The program includes application of the herbicides Aminopyralid and Glyphosate in conjunction with mechanical hand pulling and digging in sensitive habitat areas. The District is planning to expand the vegetation management program beyond Mindego Ranch to the former Driscoll Ranch within La Honda Creek Open Space Preserve. The former Driscoll Ranch has a similar environmental setting, ranching history, and species composition as Mindego Ranch. The estimated additional area to be treated is approximately 50 acres. It is expected that the intensive treatment program will span three to four growing seasons.
