Contra Costa County has prepared a draft update to the Housing Element in the County General Plan for a five year period from 2009-2014, The updated Housing Element identifies and analyzes existing and projected housing needs for the population groups within the unincorporated area of Contra Costa County, and it provides a statement of goals, policies, quantified objectives, and documents programs for the preservation, improvement, and development of housing within the unincorporated area. The Housing Element is mandated under CA Govt. Code Section 65580 and it is subject to the review and certification by the California Department of Housing and Community Development.
