Implementation of Best Management Practices will realize long-term watershed by first outreaching to private property owners to inform them of the requirement to install water quality protection measures on their property. Through the regulatory requirement to install permanent Best Management Practices on a parcel by parcel basis, multiple benefits will result. For instance, the projects outcome to reduce pollutant loads to Lake Tahoe and its tributaries improves the environmental quality of the region, whose aesthetic beauty and recreational opportunities attracts over 4 million visitors annually and provides the foundation of the thriving real estate market and tourist-based economy.
