Document Description
The project, as approved by DFG, consists of an incidental take permit (ITP) authorizing take of desert tortoise (Gopherus agassizii) and Mohave ground squirrel (Spermophilus mohavensis) (collectively the Covered Species), both of which are designated as threatened species under the CESA. The project includes construction and operation of 53 wind turbine generators, two substations, and access roads on ~1,300 acres. The ITP covers two portions of the Project comprising ~577 acres. Construction of 23 turbines, two substations, a maintenance building, underground cables, and dirt or gravel access roads will result in permanent and temporary impacts to a total of 47.3 acres of habitat occupied by the Covered Species. Project operations and maintenance will require periodic vehicle access to inspect and service substations and turbines, inspect and maintain fences, and perform biological surveys. The project, including construction, operations, and maintenance, is expected to result in incidental take of the Covered Species.
