Document Description
The proposed project would provide veterans with an ~235,435 gsf residential care facility and a skilled nursing facility with a total of 300 beds. The proposed veterans gome facility woul be desinged around a care unit design concept. Each care unit would contain a 21 bed memeber care unit called the "house". The house concept would include member rooms, a caregiver;s station, a great room (with dining, living, and kitchenette areas), and utility rooms. A combination of 2 houses would represent a "neighborhood," which would share support services, such as the administration workroom, medications room, equipment room, whirlpool, member laundry, and a private office. Each member room would have ~380 net sf. The overall configuration would be 20% private and 80% enhanced. The enhanced roomd would provide 2 beds that would be separated by cabinetry at the foot of each bed. All resident rooms would be designed to meet the licensing requirements for an SNF level of care. A central therapy garden, located at the vertex of each neighborhood, would be shred by all neighborhoods. The garden would be easily accessed and designed to support the specific needs of each neighborhood. The proposed veterans home facility would include a main kitchen where food would include a main kitchen would be transported to dining areas within the home. A loading dock would be located close to the kitchen.
