Document Description
The Project involves the development of an aggregate mine with a total Project area of 23.2 acres, 9.7 acres of which are already heavily disturbed by past excavation activities. The mine will be developed in three phases. Phase l is expected to last up to 2 years and will provide aggregate for the California Valley Solar Ranch Project (ITP 2081-2011-044-04) and potentially for the Topaz Solar Farm (ITP 2081-2011-041-04). Phases 2 and 3 are expected to last 20 to 30 years and will serve the need of the surrounding areas for aggregate material. The Project will permanently remove 14.62 acres of habitat, and temporarily impact 4.34 acres of habitat. The Project is expected to result in incidental take of San Joaquin kit fox (Vulpes macrotis mutica), San Joaquin antelope squirrel (Ammospermophilus nelson), and giant kangaroo rat (Dipodomys ingens) (Covered Species), species designated as threatened, threatened, and endangered respectively under the California Endangered Species Act (CESA). The ITP referenced above as issued by DFG authorizes incidental take of Covered Species, subject to various terms and conditions, including the requirement that all authorized impacts are fully mitigated.
