Document Description
The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) is proposing to plant approximately 400 trees within the Usona Forest Fire Station property. For the last two years, there has been below normal precipitation in Mariposa county. This condition has resulted in tree stress to lower elevation Ponderosa Pine and significant tree mortality from Western Pine Beetle. The Ponderosa Pine trees around the Usona Fire Station have especially been affected. There have been 30 to 40 trees that have died and this tree planting project is intended to rehabilitate the affected stand of trees on the property.
