Document Description
California's adoption of EPA's Arsenic Rule has reduced the maximum contaminant level from 20 to 10 ug/1 (parts per billion). As a result, four of the City's water wells are slightly out of compliance with the new rule. The proposed project involves the installation of facilities to treat these naturally occurring Arsenic levels at the following four water treatment plant sites: Fumasi, Carillion (treats Carillion and River Oaks wells), and Industrial. The project includes lowering the pH of the raw well water by using CO2, which enhances the treatment process, and then injecting it with ferric chloride and allowing time to interact with the contaminant before raising the pH level of the treated water with the addition of sodium sydroxide.
