Document Description
The proposed project is a legally required update to the final closure and post closure maintenance plans for the CHSL, and the implementation of closure construction and maintenance activities in accordance with applicable regulatory standards and requirements governing closure and post closure of solid waste landfills under Title 27 (CCR, CIWMB). A FCP(Revised) and a FPCP (Revised) have been prepared and will be submitted to the appropriate regulatory agencies.
Closure construction involves construction of an engineered cap over the solid waste landfill area designed to minimize water infiltration into the landfill. Closure activities would include vegetation of the covered areas, construction of permanent drainage features, and removal of landfill structures (as necessary). The final cover would be designed by a Registered Civil Engineer or Certified Engineering Geologist, and construct consistent with an approved Construction Quality Assurance Plan. Closure would end after construction is certified as complete by the SVSWA and by a Registered Civil Engineer or Certified Engineering Geologist. The project does not involve any increase in final height beyond the previously aproved 635 ft MSL.
