On January 2, 2006, Governor Schwarzenegger declared a State of Emergency in seven counties affected by severe rainstorms that commenced on December 19, 2005. Humboldt was one of the seven counties that sustained damage during the storm event. City of Arcata repair work on the levees funded by FEMA for federal emergency repair.
