Notice of Exemption

Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
Class 1, 4, Sec 15301, 15304
Reasons for Exemption
The project fits within the description for the two classes of Categorical Exemption to CEQA listed above. This project is within an existing facility and much of the work will take place upon a disturbed site. The demolition activities and collection of waste for disposal would result in minor alteration to land but these areas have been previously disturbed. This project will not have significant effect on the environment. Prior to reaching this conclusion, however, the Department first conducted an environmental impact analysis to confirm that no Exceptions exist at the project site. CalFire considered possible issues including sensitive location, cumulative impact, significant impact due to unusual circumstances, activities within a hazardous waste site, and significant adverse change to the significance of a historical resource. Field review by CalFire staff confirmed that no exceptions apply which would preclude the use of a Notice of Exemption for this project. The Department has concluded that no significant environmental impacts would occur. Documentation of the environmental review completed by CalFire is kept on file at CAL FIRE's Sacramento Headquarters.
