Document Description
Themuir College Apartments project would consist of an approximately 90,000 gross square-foot (gsf) student residential apartment building consisting of approximately 288 apartment style beds for second year students. The residential building would have an H-shaped footprint with an open deck bridge connecting the two towers at every level. Each lower would be nine stories, and would be connected by an open deck bridge to enhance ventilation. The ground level of the open deck bridge would serve as a central walkway pedestrian corridor. A sunken entry plaza/amphitheater and meeting plaza with seating would be located north of the towers. Covered bicycle parking would be located along the southeastern portion of the building. The building would also have a facilities support area, meeting room, and Grab and Go cafe, in addition to the housing described above. As stated in the 2004 Long Range Development Plan, the campus goal is to provide housing for 50 % of eligible students in campus facilities. In recent years, campus enrollment has surged and the current demand for housing exceeds the available on-campus housing supply.
