Reasons for Exemption
The project consists of the lease of government property by a private corporation in order to extract contaminated groundwater that will be piped and used in conjunction with an offsite treatment facility. The extraction wells and water treatment plan are in existence. The project will provide safety and public health protection for users of water in the Rancho Cordova community and downstream of the American River discharge point. The project will also provide restoration of the natural resource where the regulatory process is in existence for the protection of the environment.
