Document Description
The project involves the installation of a low-head step baffle fish ladder and protective fish screens on various bypass and other diversion inlet structures to an existing flashboard dam that is operated each summer in support of local irrigation of agricultural crops. The dam has a flashboard height of approximately 7.5 feet and a wing wall height of approximately 9.5 feet. When the flashboards are in place and impoundment occurs the resulting reservoir inundates an area of approximately 750-800 feet of stream channel. In order to avoid potental temporal and long term impacts to the natural resources of Frenchman's Creek, the Applicant has proposed several protective measures including: 1) installation of the fish ladder, 2) bypassing stream flow in support of aquatic resources downstream the dam and, 3) installation of the protective fish screens on the diversion inlet structures to avoid entrainment of fish and other aquatic species. The Department of Fish and Game is issuing Streambed Alteration Agreement Number 1600-2004-917-3 pursuant to Fish and Game Code Section 1602.
