Document Description
A wildfire defense zone will be maintained along an existing CAL FIRE fire control road located on private property. Surface vegetation and lower branches of trees will be manually removed for a maximum distance of 150 feet on either side of the fire control road. Vegetation will be removed using chainsaws and pruning saws. Treated vegetation will be disposed by piling and burning or chipping.

Reasons for Exemption
The project will not impact known archaeological sites, threatened or endangered species, or result in significant erosion or sedimentation. Project activities will be timed to occur after the flowering season for sensitive annual plant species. An archaeological field survey was completed and an Archaeological Survey Report was submitted to CAL FIRE Associate State Archaeologist. No heavy equipment or other ground disturbing equipment is proposed off of the existing roadway.
