Document Description
The Summer 2008 Big Sur Basin Complex fire burned a significant portion of the area surrounding Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, making it potentially vulnerable to severe damage caused by upcoming winter rains. The Governor's Office of Emergency Services has identified the Big Sur Lodge as a risk from debris flows and Flooding from the Big Sur River triggered by winter rain events. Project involves the following preventive measures to protect the Lodge: 1.Install approximately 118 lineal feet of ¾ inch plywood panels screwed to five rows of double 2x8 boards attached to the foundation posts to protect exposed foundation and electrical panels. 2.Install ¾ inch plywood panels using fasteners over all first floor doors and windows. 3.Provide K-rail barricade on west side of Lodge. 4.Anchor two propane tanks to the ground.
