Document Description
A drill rig would be towed to the river channel by a tracked dozer. Several holes would be drilled in the river bed to depths of 40 to 125 feet below the surface. The shallower holes would be drilled using an 8-inch hollow stem auger, while the deeper holes would be bored using mud rotary drills. A cone penetrometer would be used to obtain soil samples at various depths from each hole. Access to and egress from the site would be along one path, and no grading or road construction would occur. Fluid from the mud rotary drilling would be contained within a tank and re-circulated through the boring during drilling, then contained and properly disposed of upon completion of the Project. All work would be done when the site is dry and devoid of water.
