Document Description
The Department of Toxic Substances Control approved the Aerojet Rocketdyne Remedial Action Plan Area 40, Operable Unit which addressed the remediation of contaminiated soils and groundwater. Aerojet Rocketdyne previously utilized Area 40 for separating solvents from propellants- solvent mixtures in sumps and open burning of residual propellant and laboratory waste materials. Materials were burned in metal drums, pits and on the bare ground. A Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study concluded that the soil inArea 40 had been impacted by volatile organic compounds related to the historic solvent separation and burning activities being pechlorate and dioxins/furans.
