The City of Indio in cooperation with the California Department of Transportation, proposes to correct existing geometric deficiencies at the Interstate 10/Jefferson Street Interchange, to reduce projected operational deficiencies from the anticipated traffic demand and congestion from the forecasted growth and development in the area, and to improve traffic congestion and access along Jefferson Street/Varner Road. The proposed project is situated within the Coachella Valley area of the County of Riverside within the northern corporate limits of the City of Indio. Three alternatives are under consideration for improving the existing I-10/Jefferson Street Interchange, which includes bridge demolition, new bridge construction, roadway widening, ramp realignment, storm drain, and traffic signal improvements.
