Document Description
Amendment of 2002 Facilities Master Plan to reflect building a New Science Facility instead, of doing major renovations and additions to the existing Science Building. The new Science Facility will be constructed in the location of the existing Automotive Program, which will be vacating the site when the new Automotive Program facility is complete.

Reasons for Exemption
The Science Facility project is categorically exempt under CEQA Guidelines Categorical Exemption section 15302 (Replacement or Reconstruction). The categorical exemption applies to "replacement or reconstruction of existing structures and facilities where the new structure will be located on the same site as the structure replaced and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity as the structure replaced." The Science facilities project also is categorically exempt under CEQA Guidelines Section 15314 (Minor Additions to Schools). The categorical exemption applies to "minor additions to existing schools within existing school grounds where the addition does not increase original student capacity by more than 25% or ten classrooms, whichever is less . . . ." The Butt-Glenn Community College District Board of Trustees found that the project was exempt under the Replacement or Reconstruction and Minor Additions to Schools categorical exemptions at its publicly-notice Board meeting on June 25, 2008.
