The California Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board is issuing a 401 Water Quality Certification for the Project. The Project purpose is to isolate stream flow from contaminants and improve water quality related to historic mining and milling activities on the site, in compliance with a 2011 Cleanup and Abatement Order, Imminent and/or Substantial Endangerment Determination and Consent Order issued to the California Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) and Newmont USA by the California Department of Toxic Substances Control and California Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board.
