Document Description
The Sierra Nevada Conservancy (SNC) will provide funding to the Sierra Valley Fire Safe and Watershed Council to implement the Antelope Creek WUI Forest Health and Fuels Reduction Project on 130 acres of CDFW land. With match funding from CDFW, the project will treat a total of approximately 475 acres on CDFW land for forest health and fuels reduction through mastication and hand thinning methods. The project was identified in the Antelope Valley and Smithneck Creek Wildlife Area Land Management Plan, which was evaluated in an Initial Study/Negative Declaration (IS/ND). This project in the CDFW Antelope Valley State Wildlife Area will be funded by the same grant funding related fuel-treatment activities on 45 acres of adjacent Tahoe National Forest land. The SNC has independently reviewed the IS/ND and determined the project would not result in significant environmental impacts.
