Document Description
The SCTA is updating its 2004 Comprehensive Transportation Plan, a long-range transportation blueprint that articulates how Sonoma County's transportation infrastructure (e.g. streets, highways, transit systems and bicycle/pedestrian pathways) will be maintained and improved over the next 25 years.
The SCTA has set the following goals for the 2009 CTP update:
1. Reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions,
2. Maintain the existing transportation system,
3. Relieve congestion,
4. Develop resources to collect relevant data, and
5. Pursue funding to implement the CTP.
As part of SCTA's CTP update, a series of "Visioning Scenarios" that represent transportation improvement strategies that could be implemented will be analyzed using the Sonoma County Travel Model. This modeling exercise will provide insights on the transportation policies or projects can help SCTA achieve the goals listed above. The CTP Plan also looks at smart growth opportunities that can help the county accommodate growth in ways that minimize transportation and environmental impacts, while recognizing the need to address climate change concerns.
