Document Description
The County of Riverside Department of Facilities Management (County DFM) has proposed the restoration and operation of a recreational facility in the unincorporated County of Riverside, referred to as the North Shore Yacht Club Community Center (proposed project). The County proposes to rehabilitate the North Shore Yacht Club, which is a historically significant facility originally designed by renowned architect, Albert Frey. The building and surrounding 10.91-acre parcel would be used as a community center which will provide space for public meetings, health and educational programs, a passive museum and cultural center, services for senior citizens, and a "mail box" service to be used on a daily basis. The project will provide recreational and public services to the growing communities of the Coachella Valley. The proposed project would include extensive interior rehabilitation of the North Shore Yacht Club to suit the proposed use of the facility as a community center. The exterior would be restored to its original design, including any updated building code compliance requirements. Outdoor areas would be improved with landscaping, demolition of the existing dilapidated pool terrace, and replacement of existing flat work and retaining walls.
