Document Description
Repair the historic Plaza Hotel lower roof and staircase behind the hotel within San Juan Bautista State Historic Park. A DPR-qualified cultural resources specialist will document all phases of the project. -Roof: Repair lower roof by removing existing cedar shingles, installing an underlay of 30 pound roofing felt, and attaching new plywood sheathing over the existing skip sheathing. Install new class B fire retardant treated cedar shingles. Paint exposed plywood a color that blends in with color of the existing roof. -Staircase: Repair the staircase by replacing four rotting 4" x 4" posts that are in contact with the earth with new 4" x 6" posts on concrete footings. Install new posts by excavating four 2' deep x 2' wide holes for concrete footings, which will be poured to protrude 8" above finished grade. Brace staircase during construction.
