Document Description
The proposed area of restoration is the large fern patch (area ~750 square feet or 0.02 acres). In this area, the Cape ivy growing on and around ferns (within a two foot radius) will be removed by hand. Cape ivy outside of a two foot radius of the ferns will be sprayed with Rodeo herbicide (with R-11 surfactant) using a hand sprayer. A second herbicide treatment will be applied 2-3 months after the initial treatment. The hand removal of Cape ivy and installation of erosion control will be completed by hired restoration crews. The herbicide treatment will be applied by a licensed herbicide applicator. USDA NRCS Practice requirements (643, 342) will be followed in the implementation of this restoration project. The removal of invasive plants from the site will improve habitat for a variety of birds and butterflies as well as other wildlife in the area.
