Document Description
The natural wildland fire interval for the Swall Meadows area is approximately every 10 years. This community which sits in a natural setting is highly desirable for building homes but also at high risk as stated by the California Fire Alliance. Fortunately the area has not burned extensively for 50+ years resulting in an artificial buildup of fire fuels. This fire district has a fire history of large wildland fires every 10-20 years (1974, 1981, 2002), which burn into and through parts of the community. This "at risk" community is exposed to a high level of life and property loss due to wildfire.
