Document Description
Replace falling 16' x 4' bridge at the trail head of the C.R.E.A. Trail with a new 16' x 4' bridge at Prairie Creek redwoods State Park to comply with health and safety standards. Work will build components of the new bridge in the park service yard; transport components to the project site; remove the existing bridge; and assemble the new bridge on site. Installation in the forest will require approximately 10 working days. Excavations for the new bridge footings above the watercourse will reach 10 feet in depth.
The implementation of Best Management practices will prevent potential sedimentation or pollution. Work will take place outside of the breeding season for the northern spotted owl and marbled murrelet. In the event that previously undocumented cultural resources are encountered during project implementation, work will cease within 30' of the find and DPR cultural staff will be notified to provide protective measures.
