Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes to repair a large slip-out that occurred in December, 2003 during excavation and rebuilding of a new fill slope. The slip-out filled approximately .017 acres (90 linear feet) of jurisdictional wetlands at the northern base of the embankment. The material deposited as a result of the 2003 slide has not been removed and has since become vegetated. Another slope failure occurred at the southern base of the embankment in February, 2005, eight months after completion of embankment improvement activities, and filled a potion of the channel area. This NOE addresses Caltrans' current proposal to stabilize the 2005 slide area and mitigate for wetland impacts associated with the two slides.
