Document Description
The project proposes to connect existing bikeway routes on Puente Street in the cities of Fullerton and Brea in Orange County, California. This would require the construction of approximately 700 linear feet of bike path and installation of a prefabricated bridge approximately 80 feet in length across the existing Brea Creek Channel. Currently, Puente Street terminates on both sides of the Brea Creek Channel and the existing bike route is not continuous. The project would provide a Class I bike path to connect the existing Class III bike paths on Puente Street north of Bastanchury Road and on Puente Street south of Imperial Highway. The purpose of the project is to close the gap in this bikeway, which is designated on the City of Fullerton's General Plans, as well as the 2001 Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) Commuter Bikeways Strategic Plan. By completing this gap closure between two sections of Puente Street, bicyclists will be able to access businesses and commercial area along Imperial Highway with a more direct route. No right-of-way acquisition is necessary and limited ground disturbance would be required.
