Document Description
The purpose of the action is to increase and improve salmon and steelhead spawning and rearing habitat by replenishing spawning gravel and establishing additional side-channel habitat at new restoration sites in the Lower American River between Nimbus Dam and Arden Rapids. Work would start in the summer of 2008 and continue yearly for up to five years as funding allows. About 10,000 to 15,000 cubic yards of gravel would be added per year. The total amount over five years would be up to about 75,000 cubic yards, depending on funding and the cost of buying, processing, and transporting the gravel.
