The Phase 3 Landslide Improvements Project is part of SAFCA's efforts to reduce the risk of flooding to the Sacramento area. The Phase 3 Project includes flood risk reduction improvements (e.g., levee widening, setback levees, cutoff walls, seepage berms) along the Sacramento River east levee (from just north of Elkhorn Reservoir to just south of I-5), the Pleasant Grove Creek Canal west levee (between Howsley Rd. and Sankey Rd.), and the Natomas East Main Drainage Canal west levee (from Elkhorn Blvd. to Northgate Blvd.) as well as construction of a new canal to provide drainage and giant garter snake habitat (the "GGS/Drainage Canal"), removal of encroachments, and borrow and relandscaping activities in Sacramento and Sutter Counties.
