Document Description
AALCO Iron and Metal, Inc., a recycler of ferrous and non-ferrous metals and retailer of new metal materials, is proposing to construct a metal shredder and associated facilities in their existing scrap storage yard, located in the northwest corner of Mare Island. This includes a heavy duty metal shredder system capable of shredding automobiles and auto parts, light and cast iron, appliances, miscellaneous steel scrap, thin structural steel and plates, and pressed or sheared material. The shredder equipment will be contained on three sides with noise panels to control sound. The applicant proposes to operate the shredder up to six hours per day, five days per week, and provide two hours of nightly maintenance.
