Document Description
Two separate flood control improvements are proposed to be constructed on approximately 0.5-mile of Sand Creek between Lynwood Drive and the Patton Basin. The impacts of these flood control improvements, which are described in Section 4.0 of this Initial Study, have been studied as one project for the purposes of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
The first project consists of extending the existing concrete double-box structure under Lynwood Avenue for 20 feet, followed by a concrete-lined transition section for 62 feet. At this point, the improvements to the existing channel would consist of a grouted rip-rap trapezoidal channel for approximately 260 feet. This project would be approximately 342 linear feet, immediately downstream of Lynwood Drive.
The second project would consist of improvements to the remaining 1,100 linear feet of the existing earthen channel from the end of the first project to just north of the Patton Basin. This second project would be a trapezoidal section constructed of grouted rip rap.
