General Plan Update
Document Description
The General Plan update addresses the seven state-mandated general plan elements (land use, housing, circulation, safety, open space, conservation, and noise), as well as other issues that are important to the community, including air quality and community design. The updated General Plan establishes an overall development capacity for the City and surrounding areas, and serves as a policy guide for determining the appropriate physical development and character of the City. The General Plan applies to all properties within the City of Rialto. The current City of Rialto General Plan was adopted in 1992. Since then, several minor General Plan amendments have been adopted, including revisions to the Housing element generally in accordance with state mandates. The City has undertaken a comprehensive update of the General Plan to reflect a new vision for the community and to address issues relevant to Rialto today.
