Document Description
NOTE: Project revised on August 14, 2008, review extended and rescheduled environmental hearing date to September 9th, 2008. Proposed airport improvements would involve two separate groups of development. The Airport Authority is seeking the approval for the improvements identified in Groups 1 and 2 with this CUP and DP. Groups 1 and 2 would be developed in phases as required. The proposed project would not increase the frequency or intensity of aircraft activities or the size of the aircraft able to utilize the airport facilities. Group 1 development would total 81,015 square feet and include the construction of new hangars, additions to existing hangars, and fencing around the entire perimeter of the airport. Fencing (security and livestock) would be constructed in accordance with FAA regulations. All new hangars and hangar additions would be constructed to match the existing hangars onsite. To facilitate future utility planning, new hangars or hangar additions may include water consumption fixtures, including but not limited to sinks, showers, and/or toilets. The Airport has a successful record of septic percolation, including the most recent drywell performance test completed on September 7, 2004. However, the submittal of additional analysis and percolation testing may be required prior to the approval and issuance of applicable permits required by Environmental Health Services, P&D and/or ay other responsible County agency. Group 2 development would total 45,400 square feet and include the construction of an apron to include six helicopter parking pads and two hangar rows, one for fixed-wing aircraft and one for County emergency helicopters. Relocation of SBC Aviation Unit's hangar and ramp area would provide for a more efficient and safe county emergency service. No hangar construction is proposed to be placed above existing landfill cells. Relocation of the gliderport office would make room for taxiing aircraft. To facilitate future utility planning, new hangars or hangar additions may include water consumption fixtures, including but not limited to sinks, showers, and/or toilets. The Airport has a successful record of septic percolation, including the most recent drywell performance test completed on September 7, 2004.
