State Route 91 Corridor Improvement Project

The project is proposed within the project segments of the SR-91 (between the State Route 241 [SR 241] interchange and Pierce Street) and the I-5 (between Cajalco Road and Hidden Valley Parkway). The proposed EIR/EIS will evaluate the following alternatives: Alternative 1: High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) Lanes: Alternative 1 would include the addition of one general purpose lane in each direction from SR-241 in Orange County to Pierce Street in the City of Riverside (approximately 12 miles) and an auxiliary lane, as needed, and maintain the existing HOV lanes, as well as realigning and reconstructing existing interchange exit and entrance ramps within the project limits. This alternative would also upgrade standards. Alternative 2: High Occupancy Toll (HOT) Lanes: Alternative 2 is a constrained alternative, which would add one general-purpose lane and two HOT lanes in each direction on SR-91 from SR-241 in Orange County to Pierce Street in the City of Riverside (approximately 12 miles) and includes widening of existing structures, as well as realigning and reconstructing existing interchange exit and entrance ramps and an auxiliary lane, as needed within the project limits. The highway will also be upgraded to current standrads. This alternative will also provide direct connectors to link in the new toll lanes with I-15.
