Document Description
The proposed project consists of the demolition of the existing facility and reconstruction of a new facility on the existing site. The existing fire station is a very simple vernacular structure constructed in 1939 that was altered in the 1960s with the addition of a small, shed roof office area at the southwest corner of the property, and is ~2,260 sf. The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works (LACDPW) proposes to expand the existing fire station to encompass a total of 5,800 sf. The existing fire station to provide better amenities for the public and staff. The proposed project would not increase staff size but would provide 6 individual dorms, separate shower facilities for male and female staff, and a new American Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant restroom.
