Document Description
The Hillside Development Combining Zone is located in the northeastern portion of the City of Bakersfield. The project consists of amendments to the Hillside Development Combining Zone, Bakersfield Municipal Code, Chapter 17.66, which were adopted on November 15, 2006 (Amended Hillside Ordinance). The Amended Hillside Ordinance is intended to define and implement the goals and policies of the Metropolitan Bakersfield General Plan as they relate to the preservation and maintenance of hillsides as a scenic resource of the City and to protect the public form the threat of wildlife, hillside instability and landslides. The Amended Hillside Ordinance is a resource protection measure that amended the HD zone by creating slope and viewshed protection areas that restrict development on steep slopes and ridgelines.
