The project will include the construction of a sediment retention basin, which will provide the following benefits: reduce sediment loading to bypass channels adjacent to a pond; make removal of sediment closer to source; minimize disruption to channel and banks due to sediment deposition; minimize potential flooding from clogged culverts under Spur Trail road and at the berm spillway; and improve water quality.
