Document Description
This project is a series of prescribed burns intended to reduce the amount of Medusahead grass (Taeniatherum caput medusae) occurring within this stand thereby increasing the species composition of desirable grasses and herbaceous plants. Fire control lines will be constructed by the landowner under the direction of CAL FIRE. Burning will occur at various times in both spring and fall and results will be monitored to determine exactly when burning seems to offer the optimum benefit towards desirable species.

Reasons for Exemption
A check of DFG's Natural Diversity Database did not reveal the presence of any listed species of plants or animals likely to be adversely impacted by this project. Project is being conducted to reduce the amount of Medusa grass, which is a noxious/invasive weed. An archaeological survey was formed by professional archaeologists and a confidential report was prepared which contains measure to avoid impacting cultural resources. Burning will be in accordance with the burn plan contained within the Fire Suppression Training Plan obtained from the San Joaquin Valley APCD. Traffic will not be noticeably increased on local roads due to this project. Project area is not visible to the public.
