Document Description
Rehabilitate the existing, out-dated wastewater treatment plant at Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park to comply with regulatory requirements, increase capacity and increase efficiency. Work will: -Perform 3 geotechnical investigations to classify subsurface materials to determine engineering properties for structure installation, -Install new headworks facility with combination grinder, auger and screen, and solids washing/compaction in a new concrete below-grade structure, -Install 2 new circular primary clarifiers in below-grade concrete basins, -Provide dissolved oxygen sensors, coupled with variable frequency drives on the blowers, to provide better aeration, -Install 2 new circular secondary clarifiers in below-grade concrete basins, -Replace the dri-maid sludge processing equipment with new filter press, -Update the existing SCADA system with probes/sensors/meters with wiring and conduits, -Install ~600' of new water line and two backflow preventors, -Replace the propane-powered standby generator, -Additional improvements include: install VFDs on the influent pumps, relocate the influent flow meter, install a stilling well in the existing digestor, upgrade the basin flow-splitting equipment, and minor site work to implement the project.
